Track 19 – Aura of the Alien – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

UPDATE: This track has been removed from SoundCloud - you can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.

Welcome to my complete 1 track per day #Imphenzia release marathon. Every day until I run out of tracks I will release one of my tracks as a free download and write some history behind it.

If you like my music, if you want to support it, and if you don’t want to wait for the entire marathon to finish – you can download all my music as MP3 and FLAC files from http://music.imphenzia.com for what you think it is worth ($2 – $50) – there are 109 tracks to grab =)

Aura of the Alien was released 24th March 2010 and it's the 15th track of my album I Am Imphenzia released in 2012. The name was inspired by my logo which is a black alien with a blue/white aura around it. The genre isn't trance but some hybrid electronic style. My favorite part is the break that starts just after the three minute mark with the soft and smooth buildup that follows. It has gated pads and a subtle fog horn that gradually increases until the track picks up the pace again at 3:55.

Inspiration from this track comes from an old PC demo called Second Reality by Future Crew and in particular some awesome music created for that demo by Purple Motion. I don't think anyone would pick up on similarities but still, that's where the inspiration came from.

There are two other versions of Aura of the Alien, a soft piano version and a relaxing chillout edit, both will follow in this release marathon for you to download.

Track 18 – Imaginary Friend – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

Imaginary Friend was released 23rd January 2010 and it's the third track on my album Duplicate My Soul. I think that I layered more atmospheric pads and leads in this track than any of my previous ones and I also made tutorials based on Imaginary Friend how I layer instruments:

From the tutorial above you can also see which virtual instruments (VST) and what patches and presets were used. Thanks to the tutorial and the track itself I've received a lot of positive feedback of Imaginary Friend. The name has no particular meaning but I was meaning to make a track with that name as it sort of follows the theme of my track names (such as daydreamer, false awakening, mind machine, etc.)

There is also a relaxed chillout edit available of Imaginary Friend which will be released later on in this marathon.

Track 17 – Low Poly Universe – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

UPDATE: This track has been removed from SoundCloud - you can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.

Low Poly Universe was released 17 March 2012. Since it's a different genre from all my other music I was originally not going to release it as an Imphenzia track but instead under another name but I decided that I didn't have the time and energy to maintain another name. In the same way my chillout and piano music surfaced this track also found its way to the public through Imphenzia. Like I've mentioned in my earlier posts, being independent means total freedom so I just release anything I like.

Ever since I started making music I've been a fan of spacesynth, I just didn't know the name of the genre. There are some mod tracks, and one in particular named "Space Debris" by Markus "Kaptain" Kaarlonen that was a huge inspiration for me to begin making music in the first place. Kaptain has released a remake of Space Debris and how could you not love that track. Awesome =)

Low Poly Universe may not be in the same class as Space Debris, but it follows the footsteps and it is carried by a catchy melody and some elements that are true to the spacesynth genre. The name, Low Poly Universe, was chosen to reflect the demos of the old demoscene era in the 90s. Looking at low poly objects such as simple cubes and pyramids rotating on the screen was amazing back then and tribute goes to the demo makers that spent hours and hours and thousands of lines of assembly code to produce such primitive objects for the rest of us to find jaw dropping =)

This brings me to the old PC demo scene where I actually had a place in time. I co-funded the very unknown demo group "The Skyhawks" and we released a Christmas Demo in 1991. As I was typing this post I was thrilled to see that our old demo still bounces around the web and it's still available in this demo repository archive. It was MS DOS based so it probably won't run on today's computers.

There's a lot to talk about this track. It was also chosen by Spikepit Games to be the feature track of the Android shoot'em'up game "Plasma Sky". The game is a lot of fun to play and going through the review comments it's fun to see that many players enjoy the music and that it brings back nostalgic memories to the day of the Amiga. It's when I read comments like those that I know I succeeded with this track. I've actually made another yet to be released spacesynth track that will be featured in the update of Plasma Sky so if you like Low Poly Universe you should also like that track which will probably be released in the next few months.

Track 16 – False Awakening – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

UPDATE: This track has been removed from SoundCloud - you can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.

False Awakening is a four and a half minute old school trance track that I released 20th March 2010. It's got a steady beat and the sound of it keeps reminding me of an old track called "In My Mind" by Swedish Antiloop from the 90s. It's got a repeating lead and some morphing subtle TB303 sounds chewing away in the background. As with quite a few tracks since Himalaya it has a calm atmospheric break starting at 1:20.

False Awakening qualified to be the 2nd track on my 2010 album Duplicate My Soul. I list to it every now and then myself and even if it's not one of my favorites I quite like it and when I do #gamedev it keeps my momentum and creativity going. There are no remixes or alternative versions of False Awakening. The name has no particular meaning but I also made my track Imaginary Friend at the time and I've got tracks in the past named Daydreamer and so it follows that theme.

Track 15 – As Life Unfolds – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

UPDATE: This track has been removed from SoundCloud - you can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.

Time now for something very different in the Imphenzia 1 track per day release marathon. As Life Unfolds is the 15th track and it is unlike anything else I've released. I’ll release one of my track day by day and write some history about it. You may want to download the track asap as they stay online for about a week.

If you like my music, if you want to support it, and if you don’t want to wait for the entire marathon to finish – you can download all my music as MP3 and FLAC files from http://music.imphenzia.com for what you think it is worth ($2 – $50) – there are 109 tracks to grab =)

As Life Unfolds is a piano song with orchestral strings, brass, and wood instruments. Normally I've only released this type of stuff under "Imphenzia Soundtrack" where I make music for independent game developers, but this time I decided to release it as Imphenzia as well. Again, that's the great thing about being independent - I decide what and what not to release with total freedom. The way I figure it is that if some fans of my electronic music doesn't like this then they can just decide not to listen to it. I released this track 16th March 2012 but it was composed in December 2011.

At the core of this track is a piano melody that I came up with when playing on my Roland FP7 stage piano. I added the orchestral instruments from my SoundsOnline East West Symphonic Orchestra Gold Library. Some emotional movie style music is probably the best fit and personally I particularly like the string runs that are introduced 1:50. The original project name was "December Snow" but I decided to rename it to As Life Unfolds as I see my kids developing and before no time they'll be my age and I'll become a distant memory. The decisions we make, and the way we raise or children, will be important factors determining how our lives will unfold and I think of this every time I listen to this song.

I've also made a solo piano version that I'll be releasing later on in this marathon.

I hope you are all having a great Christmas and if you listen to As Life Unfolds spare a thought to focus on what is important to you and follow your passion and dreams!

Track 14 – State of Confusion – Imphenzia 1 Track Per Day Release Marathon

UPDATE: This track has been removed from SoundCloud - you can still get it from http://music.imphenzia.com.

State of Confusion is the 14th track two weeks into this release marathon. I'll release one of my track day by day and write some history about it.

State of Confusion is a track that I made in Reason which is very rare - nearly all the time I use Cubase. I released it 17th January 2008 and it's the second track on my album Illusion. 2008 was an odd year, I changed jobs and had a bit of a break between my roles. I was a bit confused about what I wanted to do and probably more so than ever when I composed State of Confusion so I thought it was a good fit for a name. That time has since long passed and I now know exactly what I want to do. Professionally I want to run my part time business making music, sound effects, game assets, and games and work as an IT consultant to the extent necessary to support my family and free lifestyle.

The track has some nice sweeping pads and a different melody to it. I always think of Anime and Japanese cartoons when I hear it but I may be the only one with that association.

There is also a very cool remix of this track made by "Imphenzia - State Of Confusion (Adraw ft. Makrolon Radio Edit)" that you can check out in this YouTube video. It has had 233'000 views so far and 101 likes and I really like the remix. It has the core vibe of the original track but with a nice clean beat.
