Track Description

A new progressive and powerful trance track with a melodic central core. This track features DJ-friendly intro and outro with explosive euphoric melody following the build up.

Details

Mind Machine was the very first track created with the sole ambition to make it suitable for the dance floor. I had a very different approach when I composed this track. I started by listening to some tracks that were rated high in the DJ charts and I wrote down a timeline of some of my favourites amongst those tracks. I didn't write melodies or notes but rather in the following sense:
0:00 - 0:15 Kick only, 0:15 introduce bass and clap, 0:30 introduce hihats, 0:50 remove kick, 0:55 reintroduce kick and synth chords, 1:18 introduce open hihat, 1:55 transpose down, 2:00 transpose up, 2:30 remove percussion and introduce pads, 2:55 introduce trance lead, 3:05 layer another lead ontop, etc.

Using this approach I was fairly confident that the track should turn out suitable to be played by DJs... if they only became aware of the track - the most difficult part as I'm not even remotely close to promoting my music enough :) I did send this track to some music lables but with little response I quickly decided that I'd like to stick doing it my way. I don't see why lables stick to their guns like the rest of the music industry holding back effective means of distributing music by using the traditional and ancient approch of distributing CDs. Anyhow, I'm don't pursue a record deal and I'll keep my freedom by publishing my own music on my own site instead.

I'll probably write a short tutorial one day about the approach of creating a timeline for a track as I think many others artists (especially beginners) could benefit a lot from this to understand the architecture of tracks.
